As everyone is back from vacations now, it’s time to start again with networking and startup events. In Switzerland, February typically goes with Lift Conference (and the Venture Night, gathering 8 Swiss startups).

But this year, there are 2 new, startup-oriented, events happening alongside Lift Conference. You cannot afford to miss these 2 new events if you’re interested by startups. Here they are!

On 4th of February, it will be the grand final of this worldwide startup competition, which took place in 20 emerging countries during 10 months. More than 1’000 selected startups (it was an invitation-only competition) applied locally. The 20 winners (one per country) will be presenting their startup and one will be awarded by a jury with an equity investment of up to CHF 500’000.-.
You’ll be able to discover the mindsets of entrepreneurs from all over the world and network with them, of course. Participants will even have the opportunity to watch the amazing film Crocodile in the Yangtze (the story about China’s first Internet entrepreneur, Jack Ma, from Alibaba). Doors of the C.I.C.G. for Seedstars World open at 13:00. You can register here and get a 40% (!) discount using this code: Startupolic40offSSW13
The leading business magazine of Western Switzerland Bilan will be publishing its shortlist of “50 startups in which to invest” for the second time, on Wednesday 5th of February morning in Geneva.
To celebrate the release of the listing of these 50 Swiss startups, Bilan is organizing an exclusive event to present the initiative, where 4 selected startups of the 2014 shortlist will be able to pitch. Additionally, Pascal Meyer (the crazy founder & CEO of the awesome company QoQa) and Bilan will present a common “startup project surprise”… Big names of the national startup scene like serial entrepreneurs Dominik Grolimund, Carlos Moreira or Pierre Chappaz will be present (they were also members of the jury).
The number of participants is limited (First Come, First Served) and you can secure your seat here (enter the discount code “Bilan50startups” to be able to register (and if you’d like to attend Lift Conference in the afternoon, use the code “excluBilanLift14WED”). If you cannot come, no worries… you’ll be able to find the listing in the magazine!

And finally, there’s also a great (and free) entrepreneurs’ event happening on Saturday 8th of February in Basel: StartupCamp. In the relaxed atmosphere of a Barcamp, young entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to learn from other founders and discover various possibilities of getting help on their startup journey.
