Biel/Bienne is back on the Swiss startup map!

Some months ago, I’ve written about the Swiss Tech Association, which has the goal to foster entrepreneurship and networking across Switzerland. The first initiative of the association was to launch an event serie named Swiss Tech Talk. After successfully testing the concept in Fribourg,  the association is extending across (Western by now) Switzerland, with Biel/Bienne, Neuchâtel, Geneva and Sion. Each of this city will host 4 events until June 2015.

I’m fan of the format of the event (learn something useful in a 1 hour event, in a relaxed, non-commercial atmosphere) and will therefore… be the owner of the Biel/Bienne chapter!
Yes, Biel/Bienne is my « home city » (I live a dozen km away) and am particularly happy that something can finally happen here! In the beginning of the 2000’s, the local web startup scene was quite lively… but almost everything collapsed afterward (like in a lot of places). I often describe Biel/Bienne as the little Swiss Berlin: multi-cultural, underground culture and a unique atmosphere you can’ find anywhere else in Switzerland.
The timing is really good, as there is also an institutional initiative who was launched in June 2014: InnoCampus. This new technology park and co-working place (5 minutes away from train station and from… the lake!) is hosting a variety of tech companies (from mechanics to embedded software, without forgetting web and mobile tech companies – of course!) and is want to become the epicenter of the regional tech ecosystem.
There will also be regular tech and startup events, which I’m organizing, too… so follow me to be informed!
The first one that will happen on September 29th will be about the importance of Personal Branding. Linkedin is now mainstream. Even my non-technological banker friend or my mother have their profile on it (…). That’s when you know that a service is widely used and accepted! But how to perform on Linkedin and make your profile stand out? We all have a strong personal identity, but what defines us? Who we are or what we do? As a person who lives in the action, I’d say: second.
We will welcome my friend (and avid reader of this blog!) Sarah Santacroce, who will share with us what she has learnt on personal branding strategies over the web, and the importance to emphasis your accomplishments.
The atmosphere will be relax so… take off your tie (if you’re wearing one) and participate to this first Swiss Tech Talk in Biel/Bienne!
The event will happen in English (but Sarah can easily speak French or German) and will start on Monday 29th, at 19:00, at InnoCampus in Biel/Bienne.
Book your seat now (event limited to 30 participants, so hurry up!). Entry is free for Swiss Tech Association Members, cost CHF 25.- otherwise. But… the first 5 people who contact me per email will get a FREE entry!
