The internet of energy

A current hot topic in the innovation world is the Internet of Things, which was in the center of LeWeb last December in Paris. Every object will be (is already) able to connect with other objects, and simplify your life!

The apparition and the rapid penetration of smartphones have definitely changed how we behave. Information is now ubiquitous and we can consume everywhere, anytime.

Some of you have maybe already heard about smart grids, which is according to Wikipedia, an electrical grid that uses information and communications technology to gather and act on information, such as information about the behaviors of suppliers and consumers, in an automated fashion to improve the efficiency, reliability, economics, and sustainability of the production and distribution of electricity.

Innovation in cleantech has been discussed so much these last years, but without really showcasing how ICT can help to better manage the scarce earth resources. Personal management of our own energy consumption is now measurable, trackable and monitorable. At least two spin-offs from EPFL (eSmart Technology and Ecowizz) and one from ETHZ (kWIQly) are active in this area in Switzerland. And I’m probably forgetting some other ones…

Internet of energy will be this year the topic of the TechnoArk conference, happening on Friday 25th in Sierre. Prominent foreign speakers and local experts will present and discuss the latest developments, the key challenges and how they see the near future…

There are just 39 seats left to attend the conference… and the good news is that I have 2 free tickets (value: CHF 150.- each) to give you. First come, first served: the 2 quickest people to ask me one get the free entrance…
