The Founder Institute

As another proof that Switzerland is a strong (ICT) entrepreneurial scene, The Founder Institute is opening its program in May 2012.

3 years after launch, this global accelerator for founders by founders is opening its 32nd location in Bern (Europe has 7 other locations like THE tech hot spot Berlin). During 15 weeks, wannabe entrepreneurs will be helped by experienced serial entrepreneurs from Switzerland and abroad to launch their business. FI is really close to the excellent venture challenge workshop powered by venturelab: main differences are that it is open to non students, is only mentored by entrepreneurs and has – a little – cost.

Bootcamp will take place on March 28th 2012, from 19:00 to 21:30, at Swisscom’s BrainGym in Berne.
After a presentation of the workshops concept, Amir Suissa (Founder & CEO of DeinDeal.ch) will present his journey as an entrepreneur and Walter Steinlin (President CTI) will give an insight into the Swiss Innovation Ecosystem. In addition, insight clinics sessions will take place  (interaction with experts in various discipline: legal, financing, business modeling, etc.). There’s just 100 tickets available and a lot already left… don’t wait, register now!

But who are behind the arrival of this program in Switzerland?

  • Jasper, a smart guy who was head of incubating at Swisscom and is now helping start-up in Biel’s region
  • Steffen Wagner, cofounder and managing partner at investiere.ch

Thank you guys for the initiative… you rock!

With the recent opening of other entrepreneur programs (Incubate @Deindeal, Centralway), we definitely see that something is happening here… Since my first dive into swiss startup scene in April 2008, I’ve felt that local web scene was becoming more and more mature. Now, with such programs, I’m sure I was not dreaming… and feeling the right vibes!
